In the suburb of Fairview just outside of Portland, Oregon, the Portland Fairview RV Park is beautifully maintained and in close proximity to everything from great shopping to gorgeous scenery and from museums to gardens.
The first thing our children noticed upon pulling in was a shimmering pool (of course). It’s open from May through September, and a jacuzzi offers year-round enjoyment.
Alongside the pool is an activity center/clubhouse. It is available for all to use to build puzzles, select and read books, participate in group events, or just relax on the couch. The park hosts seasonal parties here and also rents out the facility in four-hour increments for private events.
The park is filled with well-manicured landscaping, including many rose bushes, and common areas that are spacious and beautiful.
Barbecue grills and picnic tables sit alongside a bubbling brook and duck pond.
Those taking advantage of the exercise facility can listen to the flowing water and enjoy a natural setting just outside the windows. A basketball hoop is available for practice just across the way.
On the more practical side, the laundry room at this resort boasts brand new washers and dryers.
Nearby the resort, we found large grocery stores and shopping centers. Within a half-hour drive are several fantastic outings. The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is hands-on and has some fascinating and rare exhibits.
Another option is the International Rose Test Garden, boasting thousands of roses of all sorts of varieties. Each type has a different scent, so be sure to stop and smell the roses!
Multnomah Falls is perhaps one of the most visited attractions in the Portland vicinity. There are trails to several other waterfalls in the same scenic area, and hikers can reach the tops of these falls for incredible views.
A little further away, Mt. Hood and the Columbia River Gorge are excellent opportunities for day trips.
One note to make when visiting Portland is that while it is beautiful, it is known for bike theft. The resort was kind enough to make us aware of this city-wide issue and let us know U-locks offer the best protection (indeed, bikes protected by U-locks have never been reported as taken from the resort). I discovered the Portland police created a special Bike Theft Task Force which has retrieved thousands of bikes thus far. Concerned residents and visitors may register bikes online and will be contacted if their bike is retrieved after theft, which occurs in more cases than one might imagine.
That said, Portland is a beautiful place to visit, and the Portland Fairview RV Park is full of friendly staff and residents. Located in a prime location, it offers guests a great place to relax in a lovely setting before setting out to explore the surrounding area.
Many thanks to Portland Fairview RV Park for supporting our stay. As always, all opinions are my own.
